IASF, conducts Cyclone Relief Operation with the help of SAHAYA. :


IASF, an USA based organized conducted post Philin relief operation in two blocks in Ganjam district with the help of SAHAYA, a voluntary organisation of Bhubaneswar. The super cyclone Philin in October 2013 left a trail of destruction knocking down lakhs of homes affecting nearly 90 lakh people and destroying paddy crops worth about Rs 2,400 crore. Fortunately, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh escaped from widespread loss of life due to the world’s largest evacuation operation in Odisha. IASF, USA with the help of SAHAYA conducted a survey of different affected areas and planned relief operation. The first relief operation was conducted with the advice of Ganjam district administration in 10 Dalit intensive villages of Diga Pahandi Block on 20.12.2013. 550 families were distributed with relief kits of clothes. Each kit included one Dhoti for male member, one saree for the women and one blanket which were packet in a bag. During the relief operation, the Panchayat Samity Chairman, Vice Chairman, local Sarpanch and many other village level volunteers were present and helped SAHAYA and IASF team in distribution of relief materials.

The second relief camp was organized on 20.04.2014. At Nua Baxi Palli, Brahmapur. 300 families were distributed with relief kits. The time the kit included two sarees, two lungis and two bed sheets. The relief operation was held in presence of concerned ward member and other important people of the villages. Since it was the election time no political leader was invited to the relief camp.
